This was my first visit to Always Pretty Salon & Spa. There were several services I wanted to try, but after talking with Carol, I decided to start with WATSU. What an amazing experience! It works best if you relax and keep your body loose, just letting yourself float. After completing a thorough intake form while sitting in the Victorian "parlor", Carol went over my answers with me to make sure she understood any concerns, questions, medical issues, and experience I've had with body work. Then I changed into my swimsuit and we headed out to an above-ground pool, filled with warm water and completely enclosed for privacy. Once we were in the water, Carol explained the process so I had an idea of what to expect throughout the session. She again asked if I had any questions, and told me I could stop or let her know if I was experiencing any discomfort or pain at any time throughout the session. She attached a floatie to each leg while I held on to the side of the pool, then she supported my head, I closed my eyes, and just let myself float. I completely gave myself over to the experience, focusing on my breathing while Carol gently stretched and moved my body, using some techniques often applied on the massage table, but made much easier by the water supporting my weight and her not having to work around a table or chair. I also had none of the soreness I sometimes experience after a massage. When the body work was done, she didn't rush me; she allowed me to slowly adjust and open my eyes when I was ready, and sit for a moment if I needed to once out of the pool. (Much appreciated, when going from an hour of weightless floating to standing upright with gravity reminding me of its presence.) If you're sensitive to water getting in your ears, opt for the ear plugs; water will get in your ears. It truly was a great experience. see less
